Signs You Hired The Wrong Personal Injury Attorney

PILawyer2

After suffering injuries due to the negligence of another party in South Carolina, hiring a personal injury attorney is quite crucial. But it is not enough to hire just any personal injury attorney; therefore, you need to hire the right personal injury attorney if you want to have a chance of recovering the damages you are owed. If you suffered injuries due to another party’s negligence and hired an attorney to help you with your injury claim, we want to help you determine if you made the right choice. In this article, we share some signs you hired the wrong personal injury attorney.

Sign #1: Bad Communication

One of the signs you hired the wrong personal injury attorney is if they communicate poorly. Did you inform your attorney that you want regular updates about your case, but they only give you updates after you call them and ask for updates? Does it take too long for your attorney to respond to your emails or return your calls? Indeed, it is no secret that personal injury attorneys are busy people. However, regardless of how busy an attorney is, an attorney is supposed to make time to respond to clients. A good attorney will give their client regular updates (if that is what the client wants) without waiting to be pushed.

Sign #2: Constant Excuses

For example, if your personal injury attorney is always making excuses as to why they have not spoken to a witness or filed your paperwork, you most likely do not have good legal representation. Unfortunately, if an attorney regularly misses filing deadlines, it could adversely affect the outcome of your case.

Sign #3: Vague Fee Structure

After hiring a personal injury attorney, you expect them to bill you in a clear manner. You expect that if your attorney charges you for a particular service, they will provide you with a detailed explanation of the charges. If your personal injury attorney does not explain costs clearly, it is a sign that you do not have good legal representation.

Sign #4: Unethical Behavior

If your attorney engages in unethical behavior, it is an obvious sign they are not right for the job. Does your attorney destroy evidence? Does your attorney lie to the at-fault party’s insurance company or court? If your answer to both or one of these questions is yes, you hired the wrong attorney.

Sign #5: Lack of Compassion

The right personal injury attorney has compassion. If your personal injury attorney does not have empathy, they might not aggressively represent your best interests and fight to get you the payment you deserve for your injuries and damages.

Sign #6: Lack of Respect

Apart from showing you compassion, the right personal injury attorney will respect you as a client. Also, a good attorney will have respect for their colleagues. If your attorney does not respect you and/or their colleagues, it is a sign you hired the wrong attorney.
